I recently spent some time in Nashville with this guy. Cale is an exceptional Director and Cinematographer whose passion and gift for creating films that make a difference is beyond me.
We sat and drank coffee as I listened to his dreams, and what he would do if he had no limitations. He told me about his travels and the depths he’s gone to feel his soul, all the while experiencing the emotions that comes with living a solitary life at times.
We talked about being artists and how scary it is to give your emotions life, when society, fear and insecurities can knock you down. We agreed with each other’s answers, that no matter what, we’d keep on going, cause it’s what rings louder than anything else inside our hearts.
He asked me questions that I didn’t know the answers to, and it brought to mind the importance of having someone in your life whose qualities and strengths are opposite yours. He showed me the project’s he’s working on, one of which is 5 years in the making. I was left speechless and excited to witness what the future has in store for him. It brought to my senses that knowing someone whose journey is similar to yours, someone you’re comfortable with and trust enough to share your ideas, is a gift worth holding on to.
We drove long winding roads in between tall green trees, listening to music with our arms flying out the window through the warm Southern air. I looked over at who was only a few days ago a stranger, and was reminded once again, that stepping to the edge of that cliff and out of your comfort zone, can be more rewarding than imaginable.
If we jump, we grow.
